Wednesday Jun 01, 2022
Join us as we explore what it means to lean into witnessing to the goodness of God. Instead of being afraid of saying the wrong thing, not having the right answers or not being good enough. we will think about what it looks like to partner with God in witnessing and experience his presence. We’ll give practical tools for prayer and encouragement for taking risks. Take some time today to fill out the Partnering with God in Prayer card and join a summer book club.
This summer in our Menlo Book Club we are reading The 9 Arts of Spiritual Conversations by Mary Schaller and John Crilly. We'll explore nine very simple practices that ANYONE can do to engage with others. We hope you'll join us to learn ways to share the hope we have in Jesus with people who have different beliefs. Go to http://menlo.church/bookclub for more information and how to sign up!

Jesus tells us to go and be his witnesses, but what is the message that we’re supposed to share? This week, we’re talking about the Gospel to understand more fully what it means and why it is good news for our world today. We will also explore how the Gospel forces us to ask the question, “Who is reigning over our lives?” Spend some time thinking about how you would answer the questions, “Why is the Gospel good news to me?”

Does the word evangelism disturb you? Does it bring to mind obnoxious people forcing their faith upon others? This week we begin a six week series on this difficult topic and get to look ahead with one of the masterminds behind the series, Brett Koerten. We look at what Jesus said about being a witness, why it doesn’t have to be an uncomfortable topic, and why it might even be something that gives you great delight. Read the gospel of Mark and return next week to learn about the message of the witness.

In this sermon, we explore the story of Naaman, a young woman who cares for a needy person, which shows how God acts through unlikely people. We'll think about how Naaman is in some ways just like you. Who do you see around you that’s hurting or might feel as though they’re on the outside looking in? Think about how you can be an unlikely witness like Naaman.
