An Unhooked Life | Mark Labberton
Sunday Nov 13, 2022
Sunday Nov 13, 2022
Today we welcome guest speaker, President of Fuller Seminary, Mark Labberton, to preach for us at Menlo Church.
In this turbulent time of division, change, and confusion, do you have a clear understanding of exactly where you are? And… how do you know? What if it turns out that, by God’s grace, we aren’t truly in the place we think we are, but somewhere we’re not even imagining? This is right at the heart of God’s good news for today!

Menlo Midweek| A New Renaissance | Senior Pastor Phil EuBank
Wednesday Nov 09, 2022
Wednesday Nov 09, 2022
We get the privilege of getting more time with our new Senior Pastor Phil EuBank! Jess, Keith (now known as the Jimmy G. of Menlo Midweek) and Phil talk about the Bay, our hopes for Menlo and Texas BBQ!
For too the long the church has been known more for the negative—what it’s against—rather than for its positive actions and messages. But it doesn't have to be that way. Menlo Church is uniquely positioned to be the kind of place that can create new ways of sharing the hope of heaven while also helping to ease the hurting that exists in the world. What if we were made for this moment?

What do you identify as? It’s complicated. We each have many layers to our identity. Our jobs, our race, gender, education, or hobbies. The list is endless. But what is at the core—our true identity? For Christians, our truest identity is seen in Jesus. We are his. We do everything in the name of Jesus. But what does that mean? Many people claim to do things in his name, but their actions are actually filled with anger or malice, not resembling Jesus at all. This week, we talk about the reality that living in his name means living in love. Love is the symptom and indicator of our true self. Identify a relationship or situation where you can “live more in love.” This week, try to see beyond the layers or labels and think of one thing you could do to show the sacrificial love of Jesus.

For many, Christianity is just about being told all the things we shouldn’t do—and at first glance that’s what Paul, in Colossians 3, seems to be doing. However, he’s actually talking about something deeper and more beautiful. He’s hoping we’ll see the symptoms and indicators of what happens when we live in our false self, which results in our settling for something less than God intends. Our new identity is our true self and ultimate calling. This week we talk about how to take off the false self and turn back to a loving union with Christ.
This week, reflect on how you may be living out of your false self. Acknowledge it with God, open yourself up, and allow him to help you remove these habits.

Menlo Midweek: Lasting Change | Scott Palmbush
Wednesday Oct 19, 2022
Wednesday Oct 19, 2022
On today's episode, Scott Palmbush joined Jess to deep dive his sermon in our Colossians series and to share a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT (did someone say Senior Pastor candidate?!?!) In Scott's Sunday message, he explored how we can live in a world where we are surprised by difficulty and pain, but still see the bigger picture of God’s redemptive work. We dove into Paul's writings in Colossians and talked about how we can engage in the world with real humility and compassion. Also taking on the big questions: What changes in us when we are following Jesus and how does that actually work?

Colossians: Lasting Change | Scott Palmbush
Sunday Oct 16, 2022
Sunday Oct 16, 2022
Join us this week to explore how we can live in a world in which we not surprised by difficulty and pain, but still see the bigger picture of God’s redemptive work. We'll delve into Paul's writings in Colossians and will talk about how we can engage in the world with real humility and compassion. We'll also take on the big questions: What changes in us when we are following Jesus and how does that actually work? Make a list of things that represent God’s coming kingdom, perhaps things like serving your neighbors, expressing joy and love, relishing God’s goodness, embracing the promises of Scripture, etc. Once you have a list, consider how you presently fill your mind on a daily basis. Is there a disconnect? Take some time to make sure you include one thing from your list each day.
